Raynard Alexander – President of Bracks Construction, Ltd, is a Service Disabled Veteran (CVE certified) with more than 25 years of experience in the construction sector. After serving in the Air Force for nearly six years, Ray resigned his position and utilized the GI Bill to earn a Bachelors of Science for Industrial Engineering. During his time in school Ray worked with several contractors to offset the cost of his education, whereas most recently Ray spent the last eleven years at Carderock Naval Warfare Center, West Bethesda as Operational Manager of Code 60 (Materials and Manufacturing Research Division) and as a Project Manager within Code 36 (Facilities and Model Fabrication Division), assisting code scientists and engineers with standing up new (as well as maintaining existing) labs in order to meet a host of present day and future Naval requirements. Ray regularly managed construction contracts, SRM and E (Sustainability, Remodeling, Modernization and Energy) projects, A&E projects, and coordinated personnel and financial resources to meet facility requirements. Prior to that he worked at NAVSEA Headquarters as a Cost Estimator for Ship Building developing AOAs (Alternatives of Analysis)options, Cost Estimates for Milestone reviews, POM and Budget submittal, Cost Tradeoff Analysis, Risk Analysis development, Contract Cost and Schedule Performance Reports.
Eric Smith
Director of Operations
Eric’s background, specializing in heavy construction, spans three decades. He has managed and/or contracted to complete complex multi-million-dollar projects providing road construction, site development, building and structural demolition, concrete crushing, recycling, clearing and land development services. Beginning in the masonry field in 1987 as a non-union laborer, he advanced into the International Laborers Union (Local 332). His next progression was into the International Union of Operating Engineers (Local 542) operating heavy equipment. Excelling again to become a Master Mechanic (or Lead Engineer) for Local 542, where his responsibilities were to coordinate and supervise operators on high profile multi-million-dollar projects. After construction management, blueprint reading, and surveying courses Eric parlayed his experience into Site-work Superintendent positions. In the year 2000 Eric founded his own Site-work/Demolition company. He performed as an entrepreneur on union projects until 2017 executing contracts ranging from $400,000 to $4.5 million dollars in Philadelphia PA. Since 2017 he has consulted for land development firms and is currently a member of the Bracks Construction team.
